easyHotel, Forester House, Derby

Conversion of office building to 105-bed hotel with event space and restaurant.

Located in Derby city centre, Forester House is set to become a prominent building with the development of a new hotel, wedding/function area and buffet restaurant. The 1970s building will have new cladding to the exterior in line with easyHotel’s trademark colours. Meridian Construction have been appointed as the main contractor and have played a fundamental role in the project from the outset. Our experience in hotels & mixed-use developments provides vital design input into the pre-construction phase.
The refurbishment will involve new services, structural upgrades, modern fenestration, underground car park & a glass rooftop terrace. This exciting project will require specialised construction management experience to deliver a complex multi-faceted development. Stakeholder management & client expectations are key to ensuring that the project objectives are achieved.Meridian Construction have appointed its senior management team to head this project from inception to completion.
This collaborative scheme will bring together multiple business operating from a single premises and sharing building services. The engineering and design work delivered by Meridian Construction has been approved by senior consultants and engineers. Meridian Construction is working with private clients carrying out development projects under design and build contracts. Our team of consultants and engineers have extensive experience in delivering large scale projects.
This exciting project is located just off the A13 on one of the main routes into East London. The local authority has recently announced a regeneration scheme and Meridian are joining forced with the client to deliver 2 phases of the project as part of the local authority initiative. Design led plans are paving the way for projects to go from concept planning to delivery.
A 3 & 4 storey building comprising of 9 luxury apartments featuring stylish balconies, en-suites with open plan kitchen and lounge areas. A communal lift, external walkways and play space area add to the functional and aesthetic factors of the build. Each apartment benefits from spacious bedrooms, designer bathrooms and high spec kitchens. Meridian Construction work with clients to develop and deliver designs. Our background in interior fit-out for large volume developments enables us to contribute significantly to client concepts.
Phase 2 of the project proposes to construct two additional floors to the entire footprint of the building giving an additional 8 apartments.Meridian Construction will use Modern Methods of Construction inline with local planning guidelines to deliver the rooftop penthouse apartments next year.
Portland Hotel, Hull

Refurbishment of 126-bed hotel

Located in the heart of the city, the Portland Hotel is an iconic landmark in Hull.The building boasts of 7 floors with ground floor restaurants, first floor event space and 5 floors of accommodation. We are carrying out extensive refurbishment including the shell and core upgrade, new services, MEP refit and complete interior fit out package. Meridian’s remit extends from the pre-construction design phase to handover.
The challenging aspect of this project is to deliver a technical design that meets the client requirements, delivers the concept and ensures compliance with building regulations. Meridian’s team of consultants delivered an efficient design package that incorporated the existing features of the building whilst enhancing the functionality of the property.
Phase 1 of the refurbishment project involves the refurbishment of the accommodation block along with all external works. Phase 2 extends to the event space on the first floor and the retail units on the ground floor.Meridian’s ability to conduct a collaborative project enhances our profile with potential clients.
